I will never forget this:
I got out of my car and walked directly to the circle of teachers standing outside the elementary school in Alamance County, North Carolina. When I asked why they were outside, a teacher smiled:
“Operation Warm is in the gym fitting children for coats.”
A small child ran up to his teacher and told her:
“This is the best coat I have ever owned and I am never going to take it off!”
He ran across the field, his coat unzipped, hands curled inside the pockets, lifting his coat like it was a Superman cape.
I can’t say enough about this amazing organization and I wouldn’t promote them had I not witnessed the unconditional work they do up close. As you probably know, North Carolina has one of the highest rates of poverty in the United States.
I am asking you to please take a look at their website, read the statistics for absenteeism, and if you can make a donation.
